11 Places To Go In Edmonton On NYE To End 2016 With A Bang

We have to admit that 2016 has been pretty damn good to us, but unfortunately, every year must come to an end. On the bright side, we get to make way for a new year ahead. 2016 in Edmonton was a fun one, from the opening of new restaurants, a new arena, and endless events, the most we can do is reminisce and create new memories for the new year ahead.

Now you’re probably wondering what there is to do on New Years Eve, because, it’s going to be here in less than 3 days. Some Edmontonians like to party it up on Jasper Ave or Whyte Ave whereas some like to hit up a swanky event, music show or even a hockey game. We don’t wanna leave anyone hanging this New Years Eve so we created a list of 11 things to do in Edmonton to help ring in the new year. Hope this list helps you make those last hours of 2016 epic!

 

Party It Up At The Bower

What’s New Years Eve without a good party? Help ring in 2017 by hitting up The Bower located along Jasper Ave. The doors open at 8 pm and go into the wee hours of the night. Cover is $10, and be sure to wear your best outfit!


Hit Up El Cortez

Another party spot to hit up this New Years Eve is El Cortez, an Edmonton spot known for not only their modern latin food and tequila, but they also their ability to throw a damn good party. There’s no cover, you can bring your squad, and you get to dance and drink the night away.

Edmonton Oilers vs. Vancouver Canucks

Just when we thought New Years Eve couldn’t get any better, turns out there’s an Oilers Game at Rogers Arena against the Vancouver Canucks. Imagine if the Oilers won on New Years Eve? Now that’s a win worth celebrating! Puck drops at 8 pm.


The Emperor’s Ball at Red Piano

Hurry up and get your tickets now to The Emperors Ball happening at The Red Piano located inside West Edmonton Mall. There are a limited number of seats to this New Years Eve gathering. There will be a dinner plus a show at Edmonton’s finest and most upscale bar. P.S. Dress code is in full effect.


Hit Up Churchill Square

If you don’t feel like being a party animal this New Years Eve, grab your friends or siblings and attend New Years Eve in Downtown Edmonton in Churchill Square. At 8:30, the early fireworks will begin, followed by a series of musical acts at 9 pm, then finally the grand finale of fireworks happening at midnight.

Visit The Ice Castles

Are you wanting to end 2016 on a quiet note? Take your bae to the Ice Castles this year at Hawrelak Park and snap that photo of you two posing or kissing in front of an ice sculpture. It’s cute, fun, and the perfect way to spend New Years Eve with someone you love.

Dinner At The Melting Pot

Round up the family or a loved one and have dinner at The Melting Pot located on Calgary Trail. Not only does the menu look delicious, but you get to watch delicious food made right in front of you. The cost to eat is $75 a person, yeah it’s pricey but c’mon, you deserve it!

Muttart Conservatory

If you want to begin your celebration before midnight strikes on New Years Eve, round up the squad and head over to the Muttart Conservatory. It will be a great bonding experience for everyone since there will be fun crafts and activities to do before the party starts later in the evening. Edmonton International NYE Gala

Get ready for an evening that comes with an endless supply of food, drinks, music, and good vibes. Put on your best outfit for this is a black tie event, and come on down to the Edmonton International NYE Gala. The event will be held at Beverly Hills Ballroom at Fantasyland Hotel located in West Edmonton Mall. This New Years event will be in support of the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation, tickets cost $160.
