Though the Danforth is known for its gyros and souvlaki, Toronto’s most notable Greek restaurant can actually be found on Ossington. Mamakas is a stylish taverna that puts a fresh spin on authentic Greek food. They stick to the classics, like their insanely good Spanakopita, but also aren’t afraid to try something new.

Mamakas prides itself on its fresh, non-fussed approach to cooking. The fish is ordered daily and changes on the regular, depending on what’s available. Vegetables are cut to order, and the seasoning is light. Whether you’re vegetarian or gluten free, there’s sure to be something for everyone on this menu.

The decor at Mamakas is laidback yet trendy. The bright, open space is accentuated with fun bursts of colour through theatrical light-boxes and brightly painted shelves.

Mamakas is located at 80 Ossington Ave. Check it out, you most definitely won’t regret it!
