11 Skating Trails In Canada That Take You Through A Winter Wonderland

Not everyone looks forward to winter, but for a lot of us, winter means it's time to lace up our skates. It's a classic activity for the season. Recently, skating trails in Canada have become an increasingly popular trend. If you haven't tried a skating trail before, you're seriously missing out. Unlike a rink, where you go round and round the same space, skating trails will take you through a frozen winter wonderland.

Some of the best skating trails will take you through peaceful forests covered in fluffy snow, while others are best enjoyed at night. For example, at Arrowhead Provincial Park, the skating route is lit up with tiki torches in the evening. And at the Victoria Iceway Skating Trail, it's illuminated with colourful lights that give it a magical ambience.

If you're tight on cash, skating trails also are an excellent activity choice to enjoy with friends because there are several that are free. So if you want to enjoy a picture-perfect winter day without spending a dollar, visit the Gage Park Trail, the Rideau Canal Skateway, or the Riviere l'Assomption Trail.

We can hardly wait for everything to freeze over so we can enjoy one of our favourite winter activities. Here are 11 extraordinary skating trails in Canada you need to visit this winter with your friends:
