Alessia Cara Is Officially The 2020 Juno Awards Host & The Performer Lineup Will Be So Extra

Mark your calendars for March 15!
2020 Juno Awards

The 2020 Juno Awards will be taking place in Saskatoon on March 15 and it was just announced that two-time Juno Award and Grammy Award winner Alessia Cara will be hosting the event. The 23-year-old spent much of 2019 on tour with Shawn Mendes, and it looks like 2020 is bringing her even bigger opportunities.

Cara first rose to fame back in 2015 with the hit single “Here”. According to Discogs, she’s since released several EPs and albums, including The Pains of Growing in 2018, as well as This Summer in 2019.

Although it’s her first time hosting Canada’s biggest night in music, the “Scars to Your Beautiful” singer is no stranger to the award show. According to CBC, Cara won the title of Breakthrough Artist of the Year back in 2016 and Pop Album of the Year in 2017.

As if all of that isn’t enough, CBC also reported that Cara was the first Canadian artist ever to win a Best New Artist Grammy, which she was awarded in 2018.

With so many accomplishments under her belt at such a young age, it’s safe to say that the Brampton, Ontario native has earned her right to host the upcoming 2020 Juno Awards.

After announcing the big news about Cara this morning, the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences also shared the lineup of performers scheduled for March 15 and from the looks of things, this year’s show will be unforgettable.

Justin and Hailey Bieber’s wedding singer, Daniel Caesar is scheduled to perform, as well as rapper Tory Lanez, rock band the Glorious Sons, and pop artist Lennon Stella.

CBC has also reported that Cara will be performing during the show, as well as Canadian legend Jann Arden.

Some of the many stars nominated for awards this year include Jessie Reyez, Justin Bieber, Avril Lavigne, Shawn Mendes, and Loud Luxury. You can watch the entire nominee announcement video below.
