The Beer Bus team has several great tours for the fall season. Their Breakfast Beers Tour runs Saturday from 10:45 am to 2:30 pm. Take a coffin ride and brave the terror zone at Discovery Harbour

Discovery Harbour in Penetanguishene hosts their annual Pumpkinferno event each October. This is a family-friendly event on the surface, with hundreds of intricately carved pumpkins illuminating the grounds of this historic naval base. But, if you look carefully, there are some terrifying options that transform this from a PG good time to an evening of bone-chilling terror. First, there’s the virtual reality coffin ride. You’ll climb into a real coffin, the lid closes and the screen inside simulates your journey to the grave — you’ll even be buried alive! If you’re not shaking after that, head to the Terror Zone. Navigate your way through a series of shipping containers with monsters and zombies chasing you at every turn. It’s like every horror movie you’ve ever seen, but now you’re the star. New this year, Boson’s Brig escape room also adds another scary challenge to their lineup.Don’t worry, the scary options are all just that — options. Need a fall getaway with your crew? Look no further than the Blue Mountain Village! Hunt down a zombie

Wasaga Beach is well-known for being home to the world’s longest freshwater beach, but in October, the Zombies invade! Take a trailer deep into the dark woods of the Wasaga Beach Adventure Park, where you’ll shoot zombies with paintballs and help get the invasion under control. The Zombie Hunt Thrill Ride takes place every Saturday night in October starting at 6 pm with the final ride leaving at 11 pm. Book online at wasagaadventurepark.com/zombie-hunt

Explore our pumpkin patches

Maybe your journey north is a hunt for the great pumpkin? If so, we’ve got some great options for picking your own pumpkin and having some extra fun along the way. At Rounds Ranch in Elmvale, you can pick your own pumpkin for free at their Pumpkinmania event Saturdays & Sundays from September 22 to October 28, 10 am to 5 pm. You can also shoot a corn cannon, jump on the buckaroo bouncer, ride the zip lines or get lost in the corn mazes! You can also pick your own pumpkins at Fernwood Farms in Stayner and Barrie Hill Farms near Barrie.

Explore our orchards and pick your own apples 

Don your Hunter boots and your cable knit sweater for fall’s most photogenic activity: Apple-picking. BruceGreySimcoe grows a huge percentage of Ontario’s apples and fall is harvest time. Think your local grocer has fresh fruit? Think again, an apple picked right from the tree is a different ball game! Try Smith’s Apples in Port Elgin, Avalon Orchards in Innisfil or Farmer’s Pantry near Thornbury.

You can also follow the award-winning Apple Pie Trail in the Blue Mountain and Collingwood area. With everything from apple-themed art to apple-infused cuisine, you can spend days getting lost in our orchards, eateries and cideries.

Hug a Scarecrow

Every fall hundreds of scarecrows invade the small Georgian Bay town of Meaford. Unlike Wasaga’s zombie invasion, these guys are cute enough to pose with for photos! Drive down the main street and stop at Meaford Hall to see them up close. It’s small town fun at its best.
