If you’ve ever played the lottery you know for a fact that winning it is next to impossible. You buy the ticket, wait for the draw, then go scan it only to be told that you wasted your money buying it.

And yet we all keep doing it because no one wants to work forever.

A man from B.C. though just had the luckiest lottery win EVER. Not only did he win it, but on a day that 2 other very important things happened to him as well.

So, what things would those be?

Vancouver resident Ping Kuen Shum won the lottery on his birthday, which was also just happened to be the exact same day that he was retiring.

He won $2 million dollars in the draw in case you’re wondering, more than enough for him to retire with happily.

“It’s unbelievable that all three events happened on the same day,” said Shum.

According to the British Columbia Lottery Corporation the odds of winning the BC/49 draw are one in 13,983,816.

Shum says that he’s planning on at least a portion of his winnings on a trip to China.

He celebrated the news of his massive retirement fund with a dim sum meal with his family and friends, he said.

All in all though we think that’s a pretty damn good birthday present for him.

Let this be a reminder to all of us that we can actually win the lottery, even if it takes us years and years to do it.
