A 'Gossip Girl' Reboot Is Currently In The Works

Get ready, Upper East Siders! The most dramatic teen drama ever made may be coming back to your screen. And I don't mean in a Netflix marathon. With so many old shows being rebooted, some of us have to sit back and think that our favourite shows will never come back to life. Shows such as Friends, The Office, etc. have been confirmed that a reboot would just never work and while I definitely agree, some shows definitely would. Well, lucky for us, a Gossip Girl reboot is currently in the works!

If you had absolutely no idea, Gossip Girl is actually based off of a book series by author Cecily von Ziegesar. The book series got brought to life by The CW, and it ran successfully for six seasons. Starring Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Taylor Momsen, Chace Crawford, Ed Westwick and Gossip Girl himself, Penn Badgley, this American teen drama had everything we wanted and more.

From love affairs to betrayal, to fighting and fashion, to everything in between, Gossip Girl was the show that all of us wish we lived, kind of. Well, we may be able to live vicariously through these characters yet again, as The CW president Mark Pedowitz actually discussed that a discussion "is happening." While this doesn't seem like a promise, a discussion is way better than nothing.

While Mark kept mum on the whole "discussion," he did reveal that most of it is up to executive producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, whom he said he cannot do this without. Okay, we get it, nothing is confirmed and nothing is final. But if you're the type of person to hang off people's words, this does sound a liiiitle promising.

Fortunately for us Gossip Girl fans, back in 2017, Blake Lively actually discussed the possibility of a reunion. The show, which ended in 2012, was taped all in New York City, and the possibility of getting everyone together again in the city may be difficult. Blake told Variety, "It sort of all depends, Would I do seven years of the show? No, because it's hard work and I've got my babies, and I don't want to be away from them that much. But I've just learned in life you never say never. I'm looking to do something that I haven't done yet, not something that I did. But would I do that? Who knows—if it was good, if it made sense. We had so much fun shooting and living and working in New York City."

Okay, well Blake, please don't say never, because we definitely don't want it if queen Serena isn't there. As for queen Blair? Well, Leighton Meester was definitely a little more unwilling when she was asked about it. In 2017, she spoke to Vanity Fair and said that she hears talks of it "here and there," but if the timing was right, she may not say, "no, never." Well, there you go, Upper East Siders. Now, all we can do is pray and comment on all of their Instagrams basically begging for a reunion. XOXO, Gossip Girl.
