Nothing makes a meal feel more authentic than the experiences you attach to it, but you would never expect the experience of a lifetime to come from an Alabama Bar. Rattlesnake Saloon offers a genuine southern vibe, but with a little twist. Tucked away under a rocky cave bluff, it's the perfect place to kick back and enjoy savory food, a cold brew, and live entertainment after a day of exploring all the nearby Seven Springs Lodge has to offer.
Like most good things, the land, the restaurant, and the lodge have been family-owned since 1916. The lush landscape has lived many lives since then, first as a place for farming and timber, then for animal housing, as well as a place for hunters to rest while out on the trail and was eventually developed into the Seven Springs Lodge.
The Lodge allows for horseback riding, hiking, and the chance to explore historical sites like Native American shelters. You can also camp in your own RV or tent, or even rent some of the classic renovated grail silos or cabins they have on-site.
The saloon itself took just 49 days to construct and has been catering to the public with its wooden old-world southern charm since 2009. Situated beneath the cover of a rockface, you can even dine next to a waterfall when the rains have collected enough above the precipice. Talk about dinner with a view!
Unsurprisingly, this unique location draws in many guests from all over, so it’s recommended that you reserve a table at the saloon in advance.
There’s plenty of natural beauty to see in the area, with the lodge and saloon situated along the Tennessee River, right at the base of the Appalachian Mountains. Enjoy a scenic horseback ride or hike the surrounding rocky shores for some seriously gorgeous river views.
The lodge is just a short drive from several historic sites and museums too.
If you happen to arrive at the saloon on horseback, you will have to tether your steed outside on a hitching post. It is a real saloon, after all — yee haw!
