Alek Minassian Faces 23 Murder Charges After Yesterday's Van Attack

He arrived in Toronto court at 10 am this morning.

After a very brief court appearance in North York at 10 A.M. this morning, the driver in yesterday's van attack has now been charged. Alek Minassian is facing 10 counts of first degree murder and 13 counts of attempted murder.

Minassian was brought into the courtroom wearing a white jumpsuit and with his hands cuffed. Minassian kept his expression serious as he stated his name and accepted the charges. He was ordered not to have any contact with the families of the victims in the attempted murder charges.

He is set to return to court on May 10th for a full trial and will remain in custody.
