Alta Lakes in Colorado is home to a lone telephone booth planted neatly alongside the water. Though we can't say for sure, it all seems very Dr. Who-ish and might be there to access other realms.

No one knows how this vintage booth ended up at the edge of an alpine lake, but its a magical addition to the gorgeous landscape.

Alta Lakes near Telluride, Colorado, sits among the wilderness with breathtaking views.

Three lakes make up the area, and it is by the third you will find the mysterious booth nestled among the foliage.

As you approach the water's edge, you will see the vintage structure sitting peacefully near the shimmering lake, as if it has been there since the dawn of time.

You can drive up to the lakes and enjoy hiking trails, paddle boarding, or set up camp at the few free areas around.

To access the lakes from Telluride, you can head south on Highway 145 for five miles before turning east on Forest Road #632. Follow that for a little over three miles to reach the first lake.

From there, you can hike around the area and make your way to the third lagoon, and the mystical telephone booth.

Just make sure you're prepared for anything when you step inside its red lacquered walls - it could turn out to be the adventure of a lifetime.
