An Amber Alert Has Been Issued For Missing Ontario Boy Believed To Be Taken By His Mother

OPP Sargent Kerry Schmidt has confirmed that an Amber Alert has been issued for a missing boy from Peel Region. The boy is 5-year-old Ethan Montes. Peel Regional Police requested the Amber Alert broadcast after receiving reports from the boy's father this morning.

Ethan is believed to be taken by his mother, 47-year-old Juliet Mohammed. The two were last seen around 3 or 4 pm yesterday afternoon when Mohammed picked Ethan up from school in Mississauga, but it wasn't until this morning that Ethan was reported missing.

Peel Police confirmed to CP24 TV that this delay in reporting him missing was because the boy was meant to spend time with his mother yesterday and the father didn't become concerned until Ethan wasn't dropped off at school this morning.

Ethan Montes is described as three feet tall, with brown eyes, short black hair, and light brown skin. He is around 41 pounds. He was last seen wearing Batman pyjamas yesterday, but police have not ruled out the possibility that his clothes have since been changed.

As for his mother, who is believed to have taken him, Juliet Mohammed is described as five feet tall, with brown eyes, black hair, and brown skin. She wears glasses and was last seen in a blue shirt, black leggings, black boots with fur, and a brown jacket.

The pair are believed to be travelling in a grey, 2003 four-door Toyota Matrix. The Ontario license plate is 379 WTM. It's possible they are in or travelling to the London area.

In response to the AMBER Alert being issued, Sargent Kerry Schmidt has posted a new Twitter video explaining why and how AMBER Alerts are issued. There are several criteria that must be met first.

Police are asking anyone who has seen either Ethan or his mother to call 911 immediately.
