The Ontario Government implemented paid sick days for workers affected by COVID-19 in late April this year, and so far, $14.1 million worth of claims have been made.

The top three cities to cash in on sick days have been Mississauga, Toronto and Scarborough, and the leading industries for claims so far are manufacturing, construction and retail, according to government statistics released on July 16.

The program is currently due to run until September 25 and allows workers to take up to three days of paid leave for COVID-19 related issues such as getting a COVID-19 test, caring for family members who have COVID-19, needing to self-isolate because of COVID-19 and more.

The Ontario government will cover employers to pay their workers up to $200 a day for up to three days per worker if eligible. Employers can apply for reimbursement through the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board.

According to statistics provided to Narcity by the minister of labour, training and skills development as of July 22, 49,168 employers have submitted claims for reimbursement with an average value of $154 per day.

Most workers utilizing the program are taking an average of 1.9 paid sick days. However, the program has proven to be less costly than expected.

The original numbers anticipated the program would cost anywhere from $750 million to $1.5 billion, and as of July 22 ‚Äď more than halfway through the 22-week program ‚ÄĒ it has only seen $14.1 million in claims.

The program retroactively started on April 19 and will run until September 25, so there is still time for the cost to go up as more claims are made.

Is it really surprising that people are flocking to Canada's Wonderland this year? After all, most GTA summer activities were banned in 2020 due to the pandemic, so why not get your thrills there? I mean, apart from the whole malfunctioning rides thing.

A TikTok video was shared on Thursday, July 22, that showed Skyhawk, a ride at the amusement park that maneuvers people through 360-degree turns at 135 feet in the air, frozen in midair leaving its passengers dangling.

The incident, which occurred around 3:48 p.m., reportedly went on for several minutes before being resolved by the park's maintenance staff.

"The guests were returned to the ground safely. The ride is open and operating normally," Grace Peacock, director of communications at Canada's Wonderland, told Narcity.

"Safety is our primary concern and our rides are inspected and tested daily. Canada's Wonderland provides more than 26 million rides each year. Each of our rides is licensed by the Technical Standards and Safety Authority and are inspected by the TSSA every year," they added.

A list of the most dangerous roads in the world has been released by insurance company Budget Direct and one stretch of highway in Canada made the cut.

As it turns out, the Trans-Canada Highway between Revelstoke and Golden is apparently the most dangerous road in Canada. According to the study, there were 38 fatal crashes on this stretch of road in just nine years between 2004 and 2013.

Government of BC

The drive between the two B.C. towns is about an hour and 45 minutes long and if you've ever done the drive yourself, you may have noticed that it's not only windy but there's also a massive drop-off on the side.

Roads in the area are also known for the presence of wildlife and, come winter, it can get pretty slick.

While this section of the Trans-Canada Highway was the only Canadian road to make the list, several others from North America were named including Interstate 45, which runs from Galveston to Dallas through Houston, Texas.

¬ę Tokyo 2020 sera mes deuxi√®mes Jeux olympiques.

¬ę Je me sens tellement chanceuse d'√™tre une athl√®te f√©minine forte.
