Car accidents happen every day but it's uncommon for the ground to completely disappear from underneath you. For a Milton, Ontario man, that's exactly what happened at 4:45 A.M. on Tuesday morning.

A 20-year-old driver got stuck on the Trafalgar Road Water Feedermain that is currently under construction, leading his grey Mitsubishi dangling over the shaft to a 40-foot drop.

The back end of the grey car went airborne and was left dangling into the shaft. Luckily the car did not drop before it was removed after the incident.

What's confusing to police officers is how the car got on that side of the road in the first place. "We don’t know how he got on that side of the road," said Paul Davies, Halton police Staff Sgt.

The driver was treated by paramedics upon their arrival before being transported to a hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

No charges have been laid against the driver at this time, but police confirm that the accident is still under investigation. They also shared that the man was not in a condition to be interviewed when police arrived at the scene.

We're just glad the driver is okay after such a dangerous accident and that his car didn't end up falling 40 feet. Considering how expensive driving can be, no one needs that extra expense.
