Dog poop. At some point in our lives we all have to deal with it. Whether that be picking up after our cutest family member, or cursing under our breath as we try to scrape it off the bottom of our shoes with a stick.

If you fall into the category of having to pick it up on a regular basis you're probably familiar with the fact that you have to carry it around with you until you can find the nearest garbage.

But some places in Ontario don't want you to throw your pets poop in the trash.

Last year Waterloo introduced what they call the poop-power system. The city placed containers only for dog poop in three parks and instead of sending it off to the landfill they send it to a organic waste plant where it is made into electricity.

So far the containers have reportedly collected 2,350 kilograms of dog waste. Which I think we can all agree is a lot.  It's apparently enough to power 100 homes.

And they aren't the only ones doing it. The city of Mississauga will be installing 15 containers in 8 parks this spring as well.

This is the future everyone. Our houses will be powered by the poop of our furry friends.
