"In West Philadelphia, born and raised" are not just words spoken by the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, because the owner of Georgia's most authentic cheesesteak joint is from the area. The original location attached to a Shell gas station has become become such a big hit, that they needed to open more. Big Dave's Cheesesteaks in Atlanta is opening two new bigger and better locations in the city this month and ATLiens are hype.

Big Dave's Cheesesteaks, known for its truly authentic and quality ingredients, creates cheesy, melt-in-your-mouth sandwiches that will make you question if you're in ATL or Philly. Throughout its four years in business, the hole-in-the-wall joint, which will be replaced with two new ATL locations,  has been a major hotspot (and for obvious reasons). The tiny location simply could not accommodate all of its guests in a timely manner (which is a good problem to have).

Big Dave's acted fast to fix this and will now open a 3,300-square-foot location (with a 14-seat private dining room) in Midtown on Forsyth Street on Sept. 15.

Derrick told AJC that he was inspired to stay in the Atlanta area because he felt so welcomed when he came here. He also is motivated by his desire to make his young daughters proud and leave them with a legacy.

The location will feature an express concept with a green light indicating when sandwiches are fresh, hot and ready to go Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. When you visit, you have to try the eatery's best seller, "The Dave's Way" which has three cheeses, banana and sweet peppers, mushrooms and onions. And don't forget the famous philly egg rolls.

For those who don't eat red meat, you can try the equally delicious (grilled or fried) chicken cheesesteak or the new salmon cheesesteak for the pescatarians out there. We love our alcohol, so lucky for us Big Dave's has added a selection of beer and wine to the new locations.

Another new location in Doraville will sit less than four miles away from the new Midtown location. This one is expected to open in late September, so if there happens to be a long line at one or the other during lunch hour, you have a back-up that is super close.

If you are proned to late night munchies, you'll be happy to know that you can get one of Big Dave's mouth-watering phillies from until 11 p.m. during the week and midnight on Friday and Saturday! Also availabe late night, this new Atlanta taco joint open until 3 a.m. has 20 types of tacos.
