The Largest Graveyard In The Southeast Is In Atlanta & It Will Spook Your Soul

For some reason, many of us find old cemeteries so beautiful and look at it as a place to go explore. Georgia is home to the largest cemetery in the Southeast and is one of the largest in the entire United States. Many famous Georgians are buried here and there is even a massive mausoleum and chapel that are worth the entire visit.
Westview Cemetery is located in Atlanta, Georgia and has been around since 1884. The founder of Coca-Cola, a Georgia governor and many famous authors were laid to rest here.
This cemetery is huge and is free to enter, so it makes for a great adventure if you are looking for something unique to do on a budget.
Westview sits on a massive 600 acres, so you could for sure kill a few hours at this destination. The 100,000 gravestones and various structures throughout the grounds have highly detailed stoned work which is beautiful.
You can visit the grounds every day from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. If there are people visiting their loved ones, please be respectful of their privacy.
The best part about the whole 600 acres has to be the West View Abbey Mausoleum. This structure looks like something out of a movie; it is so detailed and intricate. It was not built until the 1940s, so it is not as old as the actual cemetery is.
It has thousands of tombs throughout the halls, so that might give you an inkling how big this place is. There is a chapel and multiple floors that you can explore with 27 stained glass panels throughout.
Whether you are looking for a different type of adventure, or just want to view the architecture at this spot, it has it all. There are more inexpensive date spots throughout Atlanta and you can even travel a little outside of the city and take a hike that will lead you straight to a secret, hidden graveyard.
