If you're from up North, you know all about Mamoun's and how iconic the name is. From New York, New Jersey, Pensylvania, and Connecticut, the middle eastern eatery has been dubbed the best falafel in the region by locals. Now one neighborhood in the South gets to experience all the goodness that the North has been hogging. This new Atlanta restaurant already has raving reviews with lines stretched out the door.
Mamoun's Falafel goes all the way back to 1971 when Syrian immigrants Mamoun and Maria Chater opened a hole-in-the-wall restaurant in Greenwich Village. Little did they know, their 200-square-foot venture would eventually transform into a franchise.
Now, they're almost 50 years in the making but they haven't lost any of the authenticity.
Atlanta franchisees Kalki Patel and Parimal Patel's history with Mamoun's goes way back.
"We have been eating there since we were kids whenever we went to New York and could not find anything comparable in the Atlanta area. [We] wanted to introduce it to others that were also missing out," Kalki said.
You can snag one of these loaded falafel sandwiches for just $5 and some change.
There's more to the location than just falafel. Whether you have a craving for shawarma, kabobs, or salad, this location has got you covered.
Vegetarians, vegans, and anyone who's gluten-free will be also blown away by the extensive menu options. There's definitely something for everyone, including the pita bread baked fresh daily.
It wouldn't be a trip to Mamoun's if you didn't smother your dish in their delicious hot sauce, which people rave over. One Twitter user even put out a PSA to "inject Mamoun's hot sauce in my veins."
I know I say this often but god damnit I love falafel and shawarma. Inject Mamoun’s hot sauce in my veins.— Matthew (@Matthew)1568930970.0
An added bonus is that it's in a shopping center with plenty of parking, a rarity in this growing city.
Located in West Midtown, this is the first of six Mamoun's locations in Georgia. Expect to see more popping up throughout the city and in Athens.
The grand opening is February 1, so head there immediately before the rest of the city hears about it.
