Surprisingly, Texas has gotten increasingly colder this month, and what better meal to warm yourself with than a delicious bowl of chili? Texans are in luck because a chili cook-off in Austin is taking place this month to determine who has the best recipe in the city. If you're not from the area, we recommend coming out for this, after all, you'll leave feeling much warmer than you did when you arrived.
Scholz Garten's second Annual Chili Cook-Off is taking place on Saturday, February 22 from 2 to 6 p.m.
If you're not familiar with the restaurant, it's a popular location in Austin to come out to and have delicious meals and equally tasty booze.
It makes sense that an epic chili cook-off would be hosted here since there will more than likely be a crowd before the cook-off even begins.
They're still taking applicants for the cook-off, so if you think you or your restaurant has what it takes to win, you can email Scholz Garten at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We all need a little bit of competition in our lives every now and then, and, if you win, you'll be putting yourself and your restaurant on the map in a big way.
Sampling will begin promptly at 2 p.m. until all of the chili samples are gone.
The entire event is free and open to the public, so you can stop by for as little or as long as you'd like, but we'd recommend staying until the winners are announced.
We'll find out who the winners of the competition are at 4:30 p.m. from Wayne Vermillion. Until then, we'll be on the edge of our seats waiting to find out who will be leaving victorious.
Texas is no stranger to events involving lots and lots of chili.
While not every event has a competition involved, we'd argue it makes it even better when it does. That's why this chili cook-off is one that shouldn't be missed.
