Austin's Kite Festival Returns For Its 90th Year And It Will Be Better Than Ever Before

The ABC Kite Fest is celebrating it's 90th anniversary this year in Austin. The anticipated kite festival returns on March 31st starting at 10 am at its usual location, Zilker Park. The magical celebration will feature a variety of new and traditional activities including live music, contests, fun runs and more.

Pack your kites, snacks, and pups for an exciting day at the longest running Austin festival. Kick off the Spring season with a sunny summer day of flying kites and listening to music alongside your local Austin neighbors. Prepare a homemade kite for the fest or join in the on-site crafts and make one there! This festival was designed to inspire creativity and bring a fun, relaxing event to its community.

Think you're an expert kite flyer? Register for free for the Exchange Club Kite Showcase and Contest to show off your kite flying and designing skills. The contest has several categories like "Highest Angle", "Most Unusual Kite", "Biggest Kite" and the "Smallest Kite" contests! Registration for these fun, family-friendly contests is between 11-2 on the day of the event, so don't miss out!

The ABC Kite Fest will also be hosting their Anteater Fun Run that will start at 9:30 AM the day of the festival. Register for your spot in the 2.1-mile fun run and have a blast making your way through Zilker's trails before reaching the finish line and kicking off the start of Kite Fest 2019!

There will be food and beverages for purchase on site of the event but you're also able to bring your own snacks and picnic items to enjoy while you relax with your high flying kites.

Like every year, the Kite Fest is free for everyone to enjoy and have a great time at, but now there's an option to upgrade your experience with the High Flyer Club pass. This VIP pass gives you a reserved, premium parking spot, early access to the event, a catered breakfast and lunch, and entry into the tented, air-conditioned areas throughout the event. Passes go for $60 for individuals, $100 for couples, and $200 for 4. Parking Passes are $15 with a pass purchase or free with a purchase of 4 passes.

The Kite Fest is open for all visitors at Zilker Park, located at 2100 Barton Springs Rd, Austin, TX 78704. Parking is first come, first serve unless you are a High Flyer Pass holder.
