Is decorating a gingerbread house one of your favorite activities to ring in the holidays? Well, we have something even better then that! Enjoy all things festive this year with a meal in a life-size gingerbread house, right smack in the middle of Westin in downtown Austin.
Every year the Westin hotel surprises their guests with their huge gingerbread house decor in the lobby. But this isn't just a decoration piece. The gingerbread house is a literal house with an entrance and a dining table set up right in the middle of it.
The house is rentable for both the hotel's guests and the public, for groups up to 10 to 12 people to enjoy breakfast, lunch, brunch, and dinner.
If you're planning a get together this Christmas break, think fast because this house is for sure going to be booked for all brunches Nov. 21 to Jan. 1. We'll take an invite to your Gigngerbread house, post-Thanksgiving brunch, please!
This year's theme is a good one with it being dubbed Christmas Vacation. You know, the classic National Lampoon holiday movie. According to Westin, you can "take your family on a Christmas Vacation and enjoy all the neck and jelly of the month club you can handle."
Unfortunatly, the house hasn't been built yet so we aren't sure as to what it will look like. If the house is anything like last year, it'll be massive.
When Westin does a theme, they go all out. Last year the hotel decided on the theme of the North Pole/Elf, for the movie "Elf." The inside was set up to make you feel like you're at the North Pole, and they even had a life-size cutout of Buddy from the movie. To top it off, the experience came with an interactive photobooth.
Your meal will be provided by the hotel's restaurant, Stella San Jac. If you haven't had brunch at Stella, you have been missing out and now's your chance. They have some of the best biscuits in the city. The #16 biscuits, named after how many tries it took them to get the perfect batch, come with a side of delicious honey butter.
The hotel even shared one of their set menus with us for this year (and you can also get a la carte items):
While dining in you'll for sure feel good because a portion of your price will go towards Back on My Feet, which helps combat homelessness in Austin.
Lastly, as if the whole experience wasn't already awesome, be sure to find the red letterbox on your way out and write a letter to Santa. They actually get mailed!
