Austin Is Having A Giant Book Festival This Month & It's Free

And it's for a great cause!
Austin's Texas Book Festival Is Massive And This Weekend

Whatever plans you had for this weekend, go ahead and cancel them right now, Austinites. A massive free book festival is coming to Austin, and it's unlike anything Texas has ever seen before. Making an appearance are 300+ nationally and critically recognized adult and children’s authors, 100+ exhibitors, local food trucks, and so much more.

The Texas Book Festival is taking place from Saturday, October 26 to Sunday, October 27 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. The fest is taking place at the State Capitol Building both days, and there'll even be a bar crawl, "Lit Crawl Austin," Saturday night at the Red River District. Get lit while reading lit, I suppose.

The festival is completely free to enter, and once inside you'll be greeted with books, authors, food, and entertainment galore. There are multiple entry points such as 8th Street and Congress and 11th Street and Congress, and their website has even more listed.

Not only is this just an awesome event, but the money you spend while there is going towards a great cause. They support statewide schools and library programs to ensure the future of America never has to stop reading.

Luckily, the festival is from morning to evening both days, so there's plenty of time to stop by. Even if you work or already had plans! Though, as we said, cancel them.

Their website also has plenty of information on parking and street closures for the weekend, and we highly recommend combing through it. Plus, a few basic rules to follow while you're there. We can't wait to get our read on.
