Austin Is Home To A Giant Crystal Blue Spring Fed Pool That Is Perfect For Summer
Swimming is probably the number one thing Texans want to do this summer, and every summer for that matter. As each summer comes and goes, that community pool you've been to a million times starts becoming less and less exciting. It's time to branch out and visit a cool spot in Texas you may not have heard about before. Austin is home to the oldest swimming pool in Texas and it's pretty freaking huge!
Deep Eddy Pool is a historic, man-made swimming pool that's been around since the 1930s. There's even a bathhouse that was built during the Depression era! All of this and more is what makes the pool historic, but it's what people go there for now that makes it epic. The spring-fed water makes it the perfect place to cool off in, and it's designed so that you can swim laps in half of it, and the other half can be used to swim and play however you'd like.
Make sure to bring plenty of towels for you and your friends to lay out on. After a nice day of swimming in some of the clearest water in Austin, you'll want to lay out amongst all of the other Austinites that are stopping by. Oh, and don't forget about all of the cute pups that will surely be there. Deep Eddy Pool is in a prime location for sun to be hitting at all times, so you'll be leaving with the tan of your dreams.
If you're a resident, the admission fee is even lower than the norm. Adults pay $5, Juniors (12-17) pay $3, Children pay $2 and any child under 1 is free. For non-residents, the fee is slightly higher, but only by a few dollars per person. Whether you're a resident or visiting from out of town, make sure to have cash on you for the fee, it always sucks having to run back to your car when you're all ready to make a splash.
Deep Eddy Pool is currently open from 8 am - 8 pm everyday of the week! The pool is located at 401 Deep Eddy Ave, Austin, TX 78703. For more information on Deep Eddy Pool visit their website here.
