You Can Walk Through Endless Twinkling Lights On A Lakeside Trail Near Austin This Weekend

The charm of Texas during the holiday season is not reduced to the big cities. You can have the most incredibly festive time in its charming small towns. So, How about a little trip to see some spectacular Christmas lights? Lakeway near Austin will turn into a giant Christmas Land this weekend. It will be a true enchanting illuminated paradise.

You will enter the spirit of the season while escaping for a while from the routine. Everything starts this Friday, November 22 with The Lights On! an event that marks the beginning of the holiday season. This will be the first lighting of the Trail of Lights so you can't miss the occasion. 

Surrounded by Lake Travis, Lakeway has a lot to offer every day of the year for a quick spontaneous weekend getaway or a well-planned staycation. But when the winter approaches, the city turns into an enchanting Christmas town. 

As is the kick-off fo the season, The Lights On! is one of the most iconic events of the city. This year will be happening at the City Hall and admission is completely free. If you need a parking spot, the parking lot at the corner of Sailmaster and Lohmans will be available. 

Once at the event, you will spot Santa, Ms. Claus, and Rudolph ready to plug-in the luminous displays of the Trail of Lights. The beloved holiday characters will remain around the whole evening to talk with the little (or not so little) boys and girls about their dream presents and took some pics. 

Get ready to see thousands of twinkling lights in the form of tunnels, decorated trees, and sparkly sculptures. The Trail of Lights will be on display nightly from 6:00 p.m. to midnight through the end of the year.

Take your time to explore the whole trail and make sure to take a lot of pictures. Later on, you can grab a well deserved hot chocolate and other yummy treats from the IceCream2U food truck. Other fun activities will include decorating cookies, and roast marshmallows at the fire pit.  

Tons of live music will provided by the KR Wood Quartet, so you can get your groove on all night.

Be aware that the trail it's only meant to be seen by walking. This means that bicycles, scooters, skateboards, and motorized vehicles are not permitted. Furry friends must also remain at home.
