Matthew McConaughey's COVID-19 Efforts In Austin Include Donating Thousands Of Masks

As we locals have been seeing lately, Matthew McConaughey's COVID-19 efforts in Austin never fail to impress, especially this week. Matthew and Camila McConaughey are donating approximately 80,000 masks to Austin and New Orleans first responders in an effort to protect against the coronavirus. The two teamed up with their friends and an organization they believe in to help in a time where help is needed most.

The McConaugheys shared on Instagram a video of them delivering masks to the Austin Fire Department when they stopped by yesterday, April 10.

The fire department is just one of many stops on their road to delivering thousands more to police officers, healthcare workers, and firefighters.

"Our mission is to protect those who protect us," said McConaughey.

The Austin Fire Department tweeted, "The C-shift at Station 32 got a surprise yesterday, when @McConaughey and @iamcamilaalves stopped by to let us know we're getting several 1,000 N-95 masks soon, part of their donation of 80K to healthcare workers, FFs, and police officers in #ATX and #NOLA!"

They were grateful for the visit and the big donation.

You can see the McConaugheys making one of many deliveries above, protected by masks and gloves themselves.

Matthew shared the video from his wife on his Instagram story as well, spreading the message to his own followers as well as her.

In Camila's post on Instagram, she shares with her followers "We are passionate about helping first responders from our hometown Austin - Texas, Louisiana and nationwide as we combat this national pandemic."

After all she and her husband have been sharing about their safety efforts towards their community throughout this pandemic, it's no surprise that they would be donating such an important product to local stations in need.
