Here in B.C., we are fortunate to have so many hiking trails to explore. However, some of the best outdoor adventures are hidden gems that are just waiting to be discovered. One spot you should absolutely add to your spring adventure bucket list is this B.C. abandoned train tunnels hike.

Built in the early 1900s, the Othello Tunnels were part of the Canadian Pacific Railway that is no longer in use. Now, it is a spectacular 3.5-kilometre hike where you'll walk through five mountain tunnels and over the Coquihalla River.

Every year, the tunnels close for the winter because of the risk of falling rocks and ice. However, they are set to open again at the beginning of April.

From now until the end of October is your chance to unleash your sense of adventure. You won't want to miss this opportunity to walk across the route that will take you over the canyon and through the mountains.

You won't believe your eyes as you explore the trail in Coquihalla Canyon Provincial Park.

The tunnels are an engineering marvel that go inside rocky cliffs. In one section, they had to cut a 300-foot deep channel into granite for the railway.

In other sections, you'll cross long bridges high above a canyon with a river below your feet. On these suspended walkways, you'll be able to enjoy the views of the turquoise water and lush forest that's all around you.

The journey is flat and perfect for beginners. Plus, you won't need to worry about feeling exhausted, as it only takes roughly one hour to complete.

From the parking lot, it's a straight path that will loop back to the start. The entire way, you'll get to enjoy insane photo opportunities from the tunnels and bridges.

Before you depart, make sure you pack a flashlight, as some of the caves can be dark. With a little light, you'll get to unleash your inner Indiana Jones or Lara Croft and see what wonders await.

Visiting Coquihalla Canyon Provincial Park is free, so it's a fantastic budget-friendly road trip to take with your friends.
