There's really no place in the world like British Columbia. Everyone who calls this place home really lucked out! Even though we're one of a kind, there's a BC desert boardwalk trail in a pocket of the province that will make you feel like you're in Joshua Tree, California!
Osoyoos is definitely a hidden gem in Canada since it's actually a desert. It's an amazing place that you have to put on your bucket list. One of the best ways to experience the unique landscape is to visit The Osoyoos Desert Centre and walk on their elevated boardwalk trail. You'll feel like you've been transported to California and lose yourself in the desert.
The Osoyoos Desert Centre is a 67-acre nature interpretive facility where guests can take either guided or self-guided tours through the shrub-grassland along the boardwalk trail. Plus, there's a native plant demo garden where you can see all the unique plants that call the desert home! Plant-lovers and anyone dreaming of a California desert getaway will love this trail.
It can get a little toasty out in the desert so make sure you bring water, sunscreen and a hat with you out on the trail. It's not a difficult hike at all but temperatures in Osoyoos in July average 29°C!
While you're in Osoyoos, you can take a tour of the gorgeous and magical Spotted Lake. Plus, Osoyoos is one of the best winery regions in the province so you'll want to hit up these wineries while you're there!
