If you’re one of the many wine lovers out there, then you'll definitely want the scoop on this. According to District Wine Village, B.C. is getting Canada’s fist ever wine village. Filled with tons of distillers to pick from, the B.C. wine village will have every wine and spirit you could possibly want all in one area.
B.C. is synonymous with good wine so it only makes sense that it would be the chosen destination for Canada’s first wine village.
Within Kelowna alone, there are about 40 wineries but this number is about to expand even more.
Located in the South Okanagan, the Village will be surrounded by vineyards and rolling mountains. Altogether, 16 wineries will be making up this soon-to-be iconic wine destination.
It is meant to be your one-stop-shop for all things wine and by the looks of it, it will be exactly that.
According to the District Wine Village's website, the Village has the ability to hold 610 people.
While it's being called a wine village, it will also be home to producers of cider, beer, spirits.
There will even be culinary experiences on site. So if you feel like you've had too much to drink, you can pop by and enjoy a meal prepared by some of the Okanagan's best chefs.
On-site, there will be production space, barrel and case storage, tasting rooms, patios, and enough parking for everyone.
According to Global News, the idea of the venue is to allow small producers to have their own production and tasting rooms without having to invest in a full winery operation.
By the looks of the renderings online, it seems as though this massive area will be like a cul-de-sac just instead of houses, it’s wineries and distilleries.
Located just off Highway 97 near Gallagher Lake, this project is expected to break ground in Spring 2020.
By 2021, we will be able to reap the rewards and indulge in this fully opened facility.
