I Signed Up For A Beauty Subscription Box And Here's My Honest AF Opinion

Makeup addicts, you'll want to read this.

Over the past few years, it seems as if subscription boxes have become the newest trendy way to spend your money. No matter what your interest is, odds are good that a subscription box exists for it. You can get ones for books, underwear, fitness, food, and even subscription boxes for your pets!

I personally am a pretty big makeup fan, and I recently was informed about something called Boxycharm. Essentially, Boxycharm is a monthly subscription box for makeup. This is nothing new, and plenty of these boxes exist, but there's definitely some things that set Boxycharm apart from the rest.

Firstly, most makeup subscription boxes tend to send you sample sized products. This can be helpful if you like to test out products before actually purchasing them to add to your collection, but if you end up liking the samples that you got in your box, you then have to go out and pay even more money for the full sized product.

Boxycharm, on the other hand, will send you four to five FULL-SIZED products every month, and if you do the math, you're definitely getting your money's worth. Each monthly box is just $21 USD (I live in Canada, so my monthly box costs about $35 once shipping is factored in).

Because the products sent to you are full-sized, usually it just takes one or two of the products in the box to balance out what you've paid! I've received eyeshadow palettes worth $30 USD alone so far, so with just 1/4 products, I've gotten my money back!

Usually, the products in the box are varied. I've gotten highlighter and eyeshadow palettes, mascara, brushes of all sorts, eye masks, lip scrubs, and more, and I've only been subscribed for four months now! The nice thing is that they don't send you foundations or concealers that won't match your skin tone; only products that work well with a variety of skin colours and tones!

It's easy to see that there are lots of amazing reasons to subscribe to Boxycharm, but of course, there are some downfalls as well. Like most subscription boxes, Boxycharm charges you within the first week of the month, which is no big deal!

It also takes quite some time for your tracking info to be updated, so while you're waiting for your box, you don't even know exactly where it is half the time, which is pretty frustrating!

Overall, I'd say the pros definitely outweigh the cons. I don't regret signing up for Boxycharm, and I'm excited to experiment with all my new products every month, and watch my makeup collection grow. If I have to wait awhile longer for my box to show up, I guess I'll just have to learn to practice my patience!
