Red lipstick is a holiday staple. This is fact. Well, until this year at least.
Ever since the Royal engagement, Meghan Markle has been making some serious waves in the fashion and beauty community. Normally, red lipstick takes centre stage around the holidays. But surprisingly this year, nude lipstick sales have increased by 65%. Kim K, you may have some competition here.
According to Hello! Magazine, Meghan's go-to classy nude lipstick is Charlotte Tilbury's Matte Revolution Lipstick in "Very Victoria" (CAD $39). And although it is an incredibly beautiful beigey pink matte lipstick contained in an irresistibly luxurious rose gold bullet, $39 can be a little pricey for a totally dupe-able lip colour.
If you want to look like royalty without breaking the bank, here are some beautiful alternatives that look exactly the same. And hey, who knows, maybe your very own Prince Charming might just come sweeping you off your feet.
Matte Lipstick in "Whirl" // MAC
Price: CAD $22
Of course, the OG of makeup has a dupe for Charlotte Tilbury's nude lipstick. MAC's Matte Lipsticks are super creamy and highly pigmented. The finish is also the same as the TC's lipstick, so you know you're getting it right. As with any matte lipstick, I always recommend exfoliating and priming your lips before application for the most clean and beautiful look.
Lippie Stix in "Parker" // Colour Pop
Price: CAD $7
Colour Pop's Lippie Stix are a super affordable alternative to TC's "Very Victoria" and it looks nearly identical. The lipstick is the same beautiful taupe nude shade with a matte finish that isn't drying at all.
Price: CAD $10
Maybelline's Creamy Matte Lipsticks are a dream to apply and super low maintenance. The best part is that this lipstick, though matte, is not drying on the lips at all. The colour pay off is awesome and I think Meghan Markle would approve.
