7-Eleven Canada has now become the latest fast-food stop to jump on the Beyond Meat bandwagon, by launching a completely vegetarian pizza in a number of their stores. The brand new pizza, straight from 7-Eleven’s Hot to Go menu, will feature Beyond Meat’s 100% plant-based Italian Sausage Crumbles, alongside a selection of delicious roasted vegetables. Better still, the new snack will be available 24/7, making it the perfect answer to those late-night pizza cravings!

In a news release on Thursday morning, 7-Eleven explained that their Beyond Sausage and Roasted Veggie Pizza was created to appeal to the thousands of Canadians who are shifting their food habits towards “more sustainable and humanitarian products.” By offering a pizza that features a plant-based protein, such as Beyond Meat, the convenience store intends to give veggie-lovers a new snack that will “satisfy that undeniable pizza craving.”

The new pizza is described as hand panned, with Beyond Meat Italian Sausage Crumbles, fire-roasted vegetables and tasty Canadian cheese. It will be available hot from the oven and ready to eat in-store, or pre-packaged to take home and bake at a later time.

If you’re having a lazy day or don’t have a 7-Eleven close enough to you, the pizza will also be available for home delivery from select stores via Foodora or Uber Eats.

Speaking in a news release, Doug Rosencrans, the Vice President and General Manager of 7-Eleven Canada explained, “By expanding the fresh food assortment offered to our customers, we hope to provide options for every preference."

This follows a number of other big brands getting involved in the vegetarian and vegan movement. In 2019 alone, Tim Hortons has added a number of new Beyond Meat snacks to their menu, including Beyond Sausage breakfast muffins and wraps, and Beyond Burgers at lunchtime. After A&W started the trend with their ever-popular Beyond-Burger, Subway Canada also committed to the Beyond-movement, promising to offer plant-based meatballs from September 2019.

"Beyond Meat has created excitement around plant-based protein alternatives,” Rosencrans explained. “With the introduction of the Beyond Sausage and Roasted Veggie Pizza, we are providing our customers with what they want," he said.

As it stands, the new pizza is only available at select 7-Eleven stores in Toronto. The full list of all participating stores can be found here.
