You Can Eat 15 Dozen Oysters For Only $10 At This Alabama Seafood Spot

If you can complete the challenge in an hour!

Food challenges can be intimidating, thrilling, and sometimes even just a little weird. But a good challenge will evoke all kinds of emotions in participators and onlookers alike, and the oyster challenge at Acme Oyster House in Alabama is no exception. If you can down 15 dozen oysters within the time limit, not only will you win all the glory and some prizes, but you’ll be contributing to a good cause too!

Acme Oyster House is known for its fresh, delicious seafood. What you might not know is that it's a good place to show off your iron will — not to mention your iron stomach.

If you’re game, you’ll have to call in advance to give the bar some time to prepare, and also sign a waiver before you dig in.

Manager Jessica Landon explained to Narcity that the rules go like this: you’ll be up against 15 dozen oysters. That's 180, to be precise. To win, you have to finish them all in one hour. You're allowed breaks, but you'll be escorted to make sure you’re not purging.

Winners can look forward to a 50% discount on their $19.99 meal, plus a t-shirt, hat, and their name on the winner board.

General Manager Lionel Scott of the Gulf Shores location also told Narcity that while all Acme Oyster House locations are currently open, the challenge will be postponed until they can resume regular business hours.

While they don’t have a concrete time frame, it’s still something challengers can look forward to.

You may be wondering what happens to all those oyster shells — there are 180 of them, after all.

Acme Oyster House donates all of their shells to the Oyster Shell Recycling Program, which puts them right back into Alabama’s waters to provide homes and support for future oyster growth, as well as purify the water and limit erosion.

Chow down on delicious food while knowing your scraps will be put to a good cause.
