Some Canadians are taking action to show that they will not stand for racism. A Canadian realtor's ad was vandalized with racist graffiti but locals are helping him by cleaning it up. A picture of a local's clean up of the racist vandalism on a realtor's ad has now gone viral on Reddit.
The incident took place in Calgary, Alberta. It all started when a Calgarian, Redditor BeefJyrkii, saw a billboard of an Asian realtor vandalized with a racist remark. They were outraged by the incident and took to Reddit to share their frustrations.
They uploaded a post to Reddit Calgary last night on Thursday, March 21, and wrote, "F**k off to the people that wrote this shit, no one needs to see that and a person shouldn’t ever have to explain to their children what that word means if they ask."
The Reddit post first showed a picture of the realtor's ad with the racist vandalism, and then underneath it, a picture of BeefJyrkii's attempts to clean off the graffiti and undo the damage. As you will see from the photo below, they were able to get completely rid of the racial slur.

This Calgarian is showing that not only will they not tolerate acts of racism and hate, but they will take action against it. The Reddit post has now gone viral, garnering 1,400 upvotes and over 300 comments in less than 24 hours.
Many other locals are now praising the deed. Check out what they had to say in response on Reddit Calgary!
Others are using this incident to call out the problem of racism in the city. Unfortunately, it looks like this isn't the first time something like this has happened in Calgary.
Redditor BeefJyrkii is now asking other locals to help them clean up the racist graffiti by lending cleaning supplies. "Also if anyone has any extra nail polish remover in edgemont and could let me use it to finish cleaning this I’d appreciate it. I ran out," they commented on the Reddit thread.
They also said that they would go back tomorrow to the billboard and clean up the rest of the vandalism. Faith in humanity restored.
