If you haven't had a chance to look outside today, you might not have noticed that the city is blanketed in snow and it won't stop falling anytime soon. According to Environment Canada the winter storm warning covering most of southern Alberta is predicting that Calgary will get another 10 to 15 centimetres of snow today, on top of the 7.2 centimetres that has fallen already yesterday night.
Still some uncertainty over exactly how much snow to expect. We're going with 5-10 cm tomorrow and tomorrow night, with another 10-15 cm on Thursday. But..if it stalls over #Calgary like it did on the weekend, there may be even more snow. #yyc #abstorm pic.twitter.com/IwuuE3dpOs— CTV - David Spence (@CTVdavidspence) February 6, 2018
Which is going to mean a total of 25 to 35 centimetres of snow before the worst of the storm leaves the area.
Based on the wet, slippers and downright dangerous conditions out, the local Police suggest staying off roads if possible for as long as the storm warning stays in effect.
The Alberta Government is seconding their suggestion asking everyone to "reconsider travel plans".
AB Travel Advisory: Areas of western and southern Alberta are under heavy snowfall and winter storm warnings. Prepare for winter conditions and adjust driving habits accordingly. (1:26pm) #ABRoads #ABStorm pic.twitter.com/EvMeJrB98T— 511 Alberta (@511Alberta) February 7, 2018
