February is widely known as the month of love, romance, and couples, but that doesn't mean all you single people can't have a good time too. If you're lacking a bae this Valentine's Day, choose to make February the month of adventure, trying new things, and excitement.
Maybe you didn't stick faithfully to your plans for 2018 in January, but you can definitely use February as a fresh start to make things happen; it's never too late to live your dreams. A new month brings all kinds of new opportunities, and luckily for you, there's plenty going on in Calgary.

Get tipsy off of triples at ThursDEN
If you're a Calgary university student and haven't hit up the Den yet, you're doing it so wrong. Every Thursday night this U of C hot spot turns into a super fun, club-esque hangout. DJs are playing great music, drinks are super cheap, and you can meet some really awesome people.
Try the brand new Latin street food spot Gringo Street
If spicy food is your thing, you won't want to pass up a visit to Gringo Street. This brand new spot can be found on 17th Ave, serving up tasty treats like jalapeno cheeseburgers, and sweet n' sour shrimp fried tacos.
Grab a coffee and relax at Monogram Coffee
First of all, this place is so Instagrammable, how could you not pop in and visit? Secondly, they're going to be opening their third location here in Calgary this year, which is super exciting!
Try YYC's newest vegan spot, saVeg Cafe
Having just opened in January, this spot is pretty new to the Calgary cuisine scene, but it has been far from disappointing. They're 100% plant based, and serve healthy and fast meals, snacks, smoothies, and coffee for your convenience.
Grab brunch at the Bro'Kin Yolk
The Bro'Kin Yolk has already made a great name in NW Calgary, but this year they'll be bringing a much anticipated second location to Mahogany. Devour a classic chicken and waffles, or try something different with an open faced avocado sandwich.

Find a new favourite band at Block Heater Music Festival
Who said music festivals are only fun in the summer? From February 15th - 17th you can enjoy live music performed by local, national, and international artists right here in YYC. Wristbands are sold out, but you can still purchase tickets to individual shows for great prices.
Cheer on the boys at a Calgary Flames game
A Flames game is always a fun date idea. The energy is high, the atmosphere is casual and fun, and the food and drinks are great. No matter if you're an avid fan, or a hockey newbie, you'll definitely have a night to remember.

February is a great month for concerts in Calgary. On February 6th, Portugal. The Man will be performing with guests Hollerado at MacEwan Hall. Tickets are just $45.

Of course, painting and wine makes for a great date, but doing it for a good cause is even better. On February 8th, Vin Gogh is pairing up with the Calgary Firefighters Museum to hold Date Nite. From February 1st - 3rd, head to the EMMEDIA Gallery and check out the amazing Particle + Wave Media Arts Festival. Tickets are $15 in advance, or $20, and give you access to an insane show of art from all over the world, as well as a workshop, performances, and film screenings.
Do some shopping at Little Modern Market
Everyone knows how much Calgarians love markets. For just $5, you can wander around the wonderful Little Modern Market from 9:30 to 3:30 on February 17th. Of course, you may be tempted to spend more than $5 with all the amazing products for sale.
Watch a screening of Pecker at the GRAND
This one night only screening will set you back just $5. Pecker tells the story of an amateur photographer turned Manhattan star boy, and gives a sneak peak into the work it takes to make it in the art world. The showing is on February 9th at 8 p.m.
Celebrate Chinese New Year at the CORE
This beautiful, cultural holiday is one for the books. From February 16th - 18th, you can enjoy live entertainment and treats at the CORE Downtown in celebration of the Chinese New Year. Although it is technically free, a small donation to the Calgary Zoo's panda exhibit is highly encouraged.
Listen to some local talent at Rockin' 4 Dollar$ Weezer Edition
Everyone knows that Broken City is where the hipsters hang out. Every Wednesday, 8 - 10 local bands sign up to play a rendition of a pre-selected bands songs, as well as some of their own works. Admission is just $4, and you get to see a ton of talent.
Watch some badass babes perform at Femme Fatale
Over the past few years, an increasing amount of female bands and artists have been making a name for themselves, and this event brings them all together. Tickets are $15, and give you access to a number of talented artists performing on February 24th.
Support local talent and a great cause at Griffest '18
On February 25th, you'll definitely want to find yourself at Broken City. Griffest is a day long show of a bunch of different artists, all performing for your enjoyment. All proceeds go directly to the Autism Aspergers Friendship Society of Calgary.
