Sure, going to your same old favourite Calgary restaurants every date night can be fun, but next time you're planning a dinner date, why not try something new?! Everyone knows that the Calgary restaurant scene is full of obscure spots, and we're of the opinion that they should definitely be on your bucket list!
Here's a list of some of YYC's most interesting spots, perfect to impress a date, grab some yummy food, or snap some artsy pictures for your Instagram! Where will you visit first?!
Where: 237 8th Ave SE
This hard to find, but totally delish Turkish spot is located in the same building as Arts Commons. If you're wandering Downtown and looking to try something new, or heading to a show at the theatre and need a quick bite, this is the perfect spot!
Where: 220 42nd Ave SE
It's no secret that Alloy is amazing all around. They were voted one of the best restaurants in 2017, so of course they're a Calgarian favourite! What makes them obscure, though, is their unique location in Downtown Calgary, and their gorgeous decor! It's perfect for a romantic evening with loved ones.
Where: 5708 1st Street SE
As Calgary's only Bosnian restaurant, Cozy Kitchen should definitely be on your radar! Plenty of Calgarians are all about trying new cuisines, and this spot is sure to provide you with a super unique experience.
Where: 2 locations in Calgary
Who in their right mind would turn down a sweet treat? Patisserie Du Soleil is like a little slice of Paris right here in Calgary, and even better for us, they've recently opened up a second location to spread the sweetness all around our city!
Where: 4105 4th Street NW
Everyone loves Pho because it's quick and easy, but the detail and care put into every single dish at Rau Bistro is anything but minimal. They're always serving up the perfect comfort foods in the most unexpected place; a super casual strip mall!
Where: 608 1st Street SW
If you're really looking to step outside of your comfort zone in a classy environment, look no further than Workshop Kitchen + Culture. Their tasting menu changes daily, so you can try something new with every visit!
