Many Calgarians were sad to hear the news about Lloyd's closing recently. It was known around the city for being a great date spot, a place to hangout with friends, or a super fun spot to try something new!
Many people wanted a chance to hit the rink before it closed, but missed out on an opportunity. That doesn't mean all your roller skating dreams need to die, though! Lloyd's long-lasting life in Calgary led to the creation of a community of dedicated roller skaters who want to keep the good times rolling.
On March 11th at the Calgary Chinese Cultural Centre, the Calgary Skating Community presents "Roller Skating is Staying Alive". From noon until 6p.m. will be a family skate, with free beginner skate lessons! The party doesn't stop there, though. From 6 - 10 p.m. there will be the Evening Skate Party.
The event is BYOS (Bring Your Own Skates), but all the proceeds from the event will go towards the purchase of rental skates for future Calgary Roller Skates Events! Tickets are just $15 after February 28th, but the fun you'll have is worth every penny.
