When school starts, chances are your planner will be filled with deadlines and assignments; there's no way you'll have time to pack your bags and head on a weekend road trip. Take advantage of the moment, and head on this insane road trip to all of Alberta's must-visit destinations.

We mapped out some of Alberta's best adventure spots for you, starting in Calgs and ending up there too. You can follow the map here, and adjust it for all your destinations of choice, starting with whatever city you want.

1. Calaway Park // Calgary

Kick off your road trip with a stop at Calaway Park. Enjoy carnival food and ride all your favourite amusement park rides.

2. Royal Tyrell Museum // Drumheller

Keep your inner child alive. Check out an abundance of fossils, and educate yourself on the history of our province.

3. Writing On Stone Provincial Park // Milk River 

All the Indiana Jones vibes. Located just 44km outside of Milk River, Writing on Stone contains the largest collection of First Nation petroglyphs and pictographs in North America, estimated to be over 5000 years old.

4. Dinosaur Provincial Park // Brooks

Because you're never too old to dig for dinosaur bones. Over 35 species of dinosaurs have been unearthed here, and there are five trails that can be hiked, free of charge.

5. Highwood Pass // Kananaskis Country

Drive or hike through the highest paved pass in Canada, and enjoy an incredible panoramic view of the Rockies. All your Instagram followers will lose their minds over the pics you snap.

6. Grassi Lakes // Canmore

Another great spot for amazing Rocky Mountain views. Check out the beautiful, turquoise water as you hike through Canmore.

7. Sunshine Meadows // Banff

If you don't mind a hike, the views are incredible. But if hiking isn't for you, purchase tickets for the Sunshine Village Ski Lift to get to the top. Hikes in this area range from easy to difficult, so there's something for everyone.

8. Sylvan Lake // Sylvan Lake

One of Alberta's most popular summer destinations. Take advantage of the water, and spend the day boating, swimming, fishing, or sun bathing.

9. West Edmonton Mall // Edmonton

Is it really a road trip if you don't go shopping? West Ed is the best destination for back to school shopping (if you don't mind crowds). While you're here, check out Galaxyland, or World Waterpark.

10. Athabasca Falls // Jasper

Easily one of Alberta's most beautiful bodies of water. Athabasca Falls is the perfect stop between Banff and Jasper, and a must-hit tourist destination.

Another amazing hike, definitely worth the crowds. Take your time, and enjoy all the views; you won't regret it.
