Now, we’re not saying Edmonton doesn’t have some pretty amazing bars. But let’s face it - sometimes you just need a to enjoy a fresh new scene. Calgary has you sorted, whatever genre you’re into, whether you’re heading to Cowboys for country, Hifi for EDM fans or Commonwealth for the hip hop. Hit up the clubs along 10th, 11th or 12th Avenue, and dance till the sun comes up
If you’ve grabbed a sweet hotel downtown, then you're within perfect walking distance, too; or you could even grab a super quick cab back to your hotel. Leaving plenty of time to grab a kebab on the way home... and sneak in a little ten-hour nap.

Whether you’re into craft beer, cocktails or whiskeys, Calgary has the perfect place where you can have a laugh with your mini-break besties.
For cold beer fans, the Last Best Brewery has your back. Their drink menu includes in-house brewed beers from locally-grown ingredients, as well as featured guest beers, meaning you can spend the evening experiencing some of the finest pints around.
If cocktails are more your style, then swing by Ricardos Hideaway. Its specialty is rum cocktails with a fun Caribbean-themed menu, making relaxing on the balcony feel like a true beachside resort bar. (And if you do head along, grab this $10 cocktail deal. Yesss!)

Savour a shopping spree downtown
If shopping is in your soul, then you have to head to Stephen Ave and hit up the shopping centers there. Spend your days finding unique little treasures to add to your wardrobe or home.
If you head to The CORE, and check out the phenomenal glass roof which is basically the ceiling from the Hogwarts Great Hall.
If street side shopping is more your thing, your destination is 17th Ave. There are sweet little shops there like Gravity Pope which will result in some serious shoe-envy from strangers. Must have.
Drink in the impressive views
Checking out the Calgary Tower while you’re in town is a must-do (it is, after all, Western Canada's tallest observation point, and you can get a sweet deal that will take you to the top). But not everyone is a fan of heights that are that high, so luckily Calgary has loads of sexy rooftop bars downtown so you can enjoy the skyline of this gorgeous city as you prepare for your night out.
Check out Rooftop Bar @ Simmons or The National on 8th (AKA, Western Canada's largest rooftop patio which also happens to feature fun games, like ping pong and bean bag toss!) for some serious views, delish food and great atmosphere. Oh, and fun fact: the Simmons Building is an old converted mattress warehouse, so history buffs, this one's for you!
Check out Calgary's art, theatre and music hub
One of the best things about big cities is being able to see some of the best theatres, museums and exhibitions.
If you’re a theatre buff, head to Arts Commons, right on Stephen Avenue and check out what shows are on, whether it’s orchestra, theatre or a gallery opening.
For music fans, Studio Bell, home of the National Music Centre is a must-visit with its immersive interactive exhibitions. See the mobile studio where legit music royalty like Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and the Stones recorded their albums. If it’s music to your ears, grab 20% off entry here.
Live it up downtown
You might be surprised at the kind of deals hotels provide if you aren't in the know (and now you're in the know!). We've already mentioned some of their sweet pools, spas, bars and more. But they also have deals on things like happy hour at the National, free shopping gift cards to downtown shops and more!
One of the little tips for car lovers is if you stay at Le Germain in Calgary, you can travel in style either by borrowing a Lexus for a day or getting the hotel chauffeur to drive you - for free as part of your hotel package. Um, yes, please!
Whether you want to relax by a pool, sip cocktails, go shopping, clubbing or experience a sexy motor purr, it’s officially time to book in a mini-break.
