With Edmonton being such a beautiful city, you would think that it wouldn't have any secrets. Well thanks to a website called Google, we were able to uncover some hidden secrets about the city, most of them were kinda scary. When we say scary, we're talking about ghosts, spirits and well, just strange things that have taken place in the most notorious spots. Some hospitals, restaurants, museums, and even theatres.
When you hear stories about people who have died in buildings, it is automatically assumed that their ghost/spirit lives within the building, or even better, in the spot or room where they died. Now, we have yet to visit these buildings so what we want you to do as readers if you could, is to visit these 9 buildings that we have listed below and depending if you make it out of there in one piece, please share your experience with us. In the meantime, have a look at nine allegedly haunted spots in Edmonton.
La Boheme Restaurant // 6427 112 Ave NW
This restaurant/bed & breakfast was built in the year 1912 with the purpose to serve as a luxury apartment complex. Sure it looks beautiful on the outside but the rumoured stories about what happened inside, not so much. It is said that the caretaker of this building brutally murdered his wife, chopped her into pieces and left her in the boiler room. Some say that you can hear the sound of a body being dragged down the stairs. So, anyone down to go check it out?
Princess Theatre // 10337 82 Ave
This building was built in the 1900's and in the 1920's, it was said that a jilted bride hung herself in the rooming house above the theatre in the 1920's. Sometimes she is seen hovering about in the projection room, the lobby, and the grand staircase.
Charles Camsell Hospital //12815 115 Ave NW
If you live in Edmonton, then you most likely have heard of this abandoned hospital. Matter of fact, it has been abandoned for the past 15 years and trust when we say, it is notorious for the strange activity that goes on inside. From flickering lights, to screams at nighttime, we are not surprised. We advise that you do not enter this hospital for if you are caught by a guard or a ghost for that matter, there is a huge fine to be paid
McKay Avenue School
A historic site in Edmonton, was finished in the year 1905 and apparently has been haunted since the year 2012. Turns out an electrician died while working in the basement of this school and since then, lots of ghost-like activity has taken place. For instance, the scattering of chairs whenever there was supposed to be a meeting. Hmmmm..
Located along Wayne Gretzky Drive, as a graduate from this university, it mind boggles me knowing that there was rumors of ghost activity in this school for I have personally never come across anything happening. I will say that the library is a little bit creepy, especially if you have night classes. Apparently the ghost of a teacher from the 1960's likes to slam doors unexpectedly, drop the room temperature, and jiggles doorknobs. I have never heard of this happening. Now that I think of it, I am glad I graduated before hearing about this.
Fairmont Hotel MacDonald
It's hard to imagine knowing that a ghost would want to live in such a beautiful hotel in Edmonton. Well, there is! Workers and visitors have reported sounds of a horse drawn carriage in the hallway of the top floor. So, who's down to go the Fairmont?
Victoria School of Fine Arts
Aside from being Edmonton's school for Fine Arts. It is often believed that on the first night of a new production in the Eva O. Howard theatre, there seems to be strange vibes of mischief. What kind? We are not sure for this is through word-of-mouth. No wonder actors be getting stage fright.
Back in the 1950's, a huge explosion took place at this building, claiming the life of one maintenance worker. To this day, it is rumored that the man's ghost is seen walking across the stage or watching the performance while in the audience. This is the part where we grab our popcorn and hide under our seats.
Okay, so we got bad news and some good news. Bad news is that the Strathcona Museum is haunted for sure. The good news is that the ghosts and spirits that live there cause no harm. There have been occurrences such as electronics going on and off at night, things moving around and pieces of licorice popping out of nowhere. Hmm, who's hungry?
