New bars are popping up around the city like acne on a teenager’s face (oh, to be young again). But unlike those pesky pimples, these new bars are a welcome sight. And if you’ve walked down Whyte Ave recently, you may have already noticed the new and sleekly designed building--home to Malt & Mortar.

Malt & Mortar, the newest addition to Edmonton’s expansive gastropub scene, offers many local and Canadian craft beers on tap, some interesting international bottled beer, as well as a few big-brand old faithfuls. Needless to say, their beer selection is wonderful.

If you weren’t in the mood for beer, their unique cocktails--called their house “special teas”, are a great option/alternative.

In terms of food, creative menu items like “sticky toffee five spice wings” and “kimchi tatchos” are available, and definitely worth a try.

Malt & Mortar is a great addition to the Whyte Ave area, and will surely make its mark as a go-to place for a really great beer.

So, if you haven’t already, make your way to this new gastropub! Malt & Mortar may just be your next favourite watering hole.

*It should be noted that the word pint in the article title is meant to be synonymous with beer (colloquial language FTW), and the beers here are generally served in 14 oz glasses.
