When you have a significant other, it can be pretty easy to find yourself falling into a routine. You have your favourite restaurants, your go-to places wherever you live, and before you know it, all you really do together is stay in and watch Netflix. There's definitely nothing wrong with that, but let's be real - it can get boring.

In order to keep the flame in your relationship burning strong, you've got to keep things exciting! Although money and time can be big factors, I'm a big believer that you can make anything work if you try hard enough. Here are some suggestions for super fun date ideas around Alberta that you and your s/o should go on this spring:

Take a ride on the Banff Gondola

For a lot of Alberta couples, when you think "romantic getaway", you instantly think of heading to Banff. While there's so much to do in the beautiful park, we definitely suggest you take a ride on the Banff Gondola so you can take in all the beauty at once, and get awesome pictures to remember your trip!

Visit the Nikka Yuko Japanese Gardens

As far as gardens go, I think we can all agree that there's no time to visit them quite like Springtime. When you visit the Nikka Yuko Japanese Gardens in Lethbridge, you feel an overwhelming serenity come over you, which is exactly what we all need from time to time! Take a stroll through, admire the beautiful plants in full bloom, and enjoy the day with your s/o.

Soak in the Miette Hot Springs

If you've been working on your summer bod over the past few months, this is just the place to show it off! The Miette Hot Springs in Jasper National Park are the perfect place to go after you head out on a hike and explore the park, or if you're just looking to kick back and relax with a great view.

Enjoy a fancy dinner at the Calgary Tower

If fancy dinners are your thing, the Sky 360 Restaurant at the Calgary Tower should definitely be on your bucket list! This restaurant sits high above the cities skyline so you can enjoy the beautiful view of not only your boyfriend or girlfriend, but also of YYC! Spots book up fast, so be sure to make yourself a reservation.

Explore the Caves of Canmore

If you're more of the adventurous type, what could possibly be more fun than heading down to explore the caves of Canmore! Thanks to a company called Canmore Cave Tours, you and yours can explore underground totally safely, and in good company!

Visit the Muttart Conservatory

Although Spring in Alberta can get pretty warm, we definitely still have the occasional cold spurt. If the snow happens to come back, but you still want to enjoy some lush greenery, the Muttart Conservatory in Edmonton is the best place to go! This little museum is home to an abundance of beautiful plants and it also happens to be a really great photo op!

Have a beach day at Sylvan Lake

One thing Alberta isn't known for is beaches - but that doesn't mean we don't have any options! When the weather is nice and you're ready for some fun in the sun, Sylvan Lake is the perfect place to go. Whether you go all out and rent some paddleboards, or just relax with a blanket on the sand, it'll make for the perfect spring date.

Watch the sunset from Orkney Viewpoint

If you're heading down to Drumheller to check out the hoodoos, you should also make a point to stop at the Orkney Viewpoint and admire the view. Although it's very pretty at any time of day, we do suggest you time your visit so that you can catch a beautiful sunset over the prairies!

Take a hike to Crescent Falls

Even if you're not usually much of a hiker, we promise that this one is worth it. The hike to Crescent Falls is not only beautiful - it's unforgettable. The path can be found near Clearwater County, and is about 5.6km in length. It's great for hikers of all skill levels, so no need to worry if you're not an expert!

Go tubing down the Red Deer River

One of my favourite things about the warmer weather is that it means it's finally time to get in the water again. A favourite pastime for many Albertans is tubing down Red Deer's Discovery Canyon, and if you haven't yet tried it for yourself, there's no time like the present to do it! If you don't have tubes of your own you can rent them, so all you need is some sunscreen and a bathing suit!

Check out the St. Albert Farmer's Market

Personally, I love Farmer's Markets. No matter if you're going to do your grocery shopping, or simply just looking to peruse around and mingle with some locals, there's something so fun about just exploring the booths and picking up new snacks to try. St. Albert has one of the best Farmer's Markets in Alberta, so if you're in the area this Spring, be sure to check it out!

Hang out at Discovery Wildlife Park

There's nothing like a day spent with some cute animals, and your cute significant other to put you in a good mood. Discovery Wildlife Park is located in Innisfail, and is home to an abundance of cute creatures like bears, wolves, and even monkeys! They're currently closed for winter, but will reopen for you on May 1st!
