13 Most Surreal Beaches To Visit In BC Before Summer Ends

Summer, take me away!

Unique to the rest of Canada, British Columbia is blessed with an abundance of soft, sandy beaches and gorgeous water. Our position on the coastline makes us host to over 30 different shorelines to kick back on. It also means that no matter where you go, you're bound to find beautiful waters and an amazing place for a summer memories.

Note that we use the term 'beaches' rather loosely - we're including some beautiful lakes and smaller bodies of water to make sure you've got exceptional variety. Convenience is awesome, but these surreal beaches will make for the perfect summer adventure.

1. White Pine Beach // Port Moody

White Pine Beach can be found at Sasamat lake and is absolutely stunning! Crowds are typically lighter on weekdays, and the mix of white sand and blue water turns it into a miniature getaway.

2. Mara Lake // North Okanagan 

Mara Lake is fantastic for swimming, boating, canoeing and even just lazying through its extensive, soft sand.

3. Canoe Beach // Salmon Arm 

Canoe Beach's beautiful view is met with an extensive boat launch (or board walk). The sand is soft, smooth and there's a fantastic view as far as the eye can see.

With the hot sands and the warm Kelowna temperature, this beach really is the perfect place to lay back and immerse yourself in the summer sun.

5. Gyro Beach // Kelowna 

With a large, beautiful park and beach as well as the perfect shallow swimming area, Gyro Beach is a favourite among the younger local crowd.

Christina Lake offers unmatched privacy and an immersion in nature that can't be beat. Hunt around the lake to find a small pocket around the warm, clear water.

Sun-Oka is the perfect mix of soft sand and shade under trees, all for the taking in the heart of Summerand, BC. The regional park also plays home to a number of watersports.

Kal Beach is one of the best beaches in the city of Vernon - one look at these turquoise waters and you'll definitely agree. While there are higher areas alongside the beaches, be sure to practice safety and smart decisions!

Though you might be visiting with the hot springs in mind, it'd be foolish to ignore the soft sand and quiet water. The quaint town is often host to beach volleyball tournaments and sandcastle competitions!

10. Skaha Lake // Penticton 

Skaha has seemingly everything with ample beach and grass area, warm waters and the Skaha Bluffs rock climbing area.

11. Okanagan Beach // Penticton 

The southern shore of Okanagan Lake is a favourite for both locals and tourists alike. Did we mention it's home to the Loco Landing amusement park, BC's only aquatic bounce park?

Look, forget about Deep Cove for a second. This gem nestled on the Sea-To-Sky Highway hosts the most beautiful turquoise waters around. And it's on the way to and from Whistler, making it the perfect pit stop!

13. Jug Island // Port Moody

Though Port Moody may seem far it's acutally just a 20-30 minute commute over water from Deep Cove - the perfect destination if you rent a kayak or paddleboard.
