One of the greatest attractions of Vancouver is its pristine location right on the ocean. There's nothing more refreshing than the sound of waves breaking while a strong ocean breeze ruffles your brow. Though we can't always make it to the beach with our busy schedules, for those who want just a taste of salt on their tongue, Vancouver does have several fantastic bars and restaurants with stellar vistas of our surreal seascape. When we're so close to the sea, not only do we have the privilege of great scenery, but also an incredible display of freshly caught sea food to satisfy our fishy cravings.
Whether you're looking for a casual place to day drink with friends by the sea, or elegantly dine to sparkling sunlight reflecting off the ocean's rippling surface before sunset, this list of scenic spots has both great food and marvelous views, guaranteeing the fondest of memories.
In no particular order, give these places a try and escape into the blissful calm that the ocean always brings:
1. Go Fish // 1505 W 1st Ave
There's no better way to start off the list then this renowned fish n' chip joint. Locals love it, and with good reason, serving up some of the best fish around. Outdoor seating will ensure a nice tan as you overlook False Creek from Fisherman's Wharf.
2. Miku Restaurant // 200 Granville St #70
Sushi comes from the sea so it only makes sense to put a sushi restaurant on the water. With a nice patio and offering a wide array of Japanese style cuisine, there are few better places to enjoy sashimi. High-end dining with bay views of the Vancouver harbour.

3. LIFT Bar and Grill // 333 Menchions Mews
One of the chillest locations undoubtedly. This stylish building jets out over the water along side Bayside West Marina, providing an amazing view of boats coming to and fro. The roof-top bar is a popular place for a cocktail after work while the sun is still overhead.
4. Beach Bay Cafe // 1193 Denman St
For those in the West End this is a great place with a well priced menu. Seated across the street from English Bay, this is a great place for a meal after beaching all day. Good views of the sunset from the patio.
5. Bella Gelateria // 1089 Marinaside Crescent
Overlooking Quayside Marina in Yaletown this is a superb spot to grab a slice. Quality authentic Italian cuisine, including some of the best gelato served in the city, makes this one a summer must.
6. Provence Marinaside // 1177 Marinaside Crescent
Neighbouring Bella Gelateria on Marinaside Crescent, Provence is another fine seafood option with a French flair. The open wall patio is a cool place to have brunch.
7. Ancora // 1600 Howe St #2
For a classier occasion Ancora has a nice view and an impressive meal and drink list. The seafood is fresh. Cooked to perfection, or served raw depending on your preference. Fine dining at its best.
8. Cardero's Restaurant // 1583 Coal Harbour Quay
In Coal Harbour, this is a happening eatery. They have chill music and a fun ambiance. Not to mention a tasty menu and chic wood deck patio. Fresh fish for those right off the boat.
9. Dockside Restaurant // 1253 Johnston St
Casual fine dining with an attached brewery and a picturesque view. Open breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The patio is on point and inside the large glass windows still provide a great backdrop of False Creek from Granville Island.
10. Tap and Barrel // 1055 Canada Pl #76
With two locations, T&B is a well establish restaurant with a great list of beers on tap. At the Convention Centre location, there is a splendid view of Vancouver Harbour.
11. Bridges // 1696 Duranleau St
The iconic yellow building is one not soon forgotten. On the point of Granville Island, you'll be overlooking the creek. In the summer, the outside will be popping as boaters and market goers steadily flow in and out.
12. The Galley Patio and Grill // 1300 Discovery St
For burgers and cafe style food and drink, the Galley is an excellent choice if you're in the English Bay area and need a quick bite.

13. Steamworks Brewing Co. // 375 Water St
Right on Water Street, this restaurant/pub is a Vancouver staple. From the second floor, there's a spectacular view of the water and mountains. The beer is brewed on site and is some of the best. Plus there's lots of parking for those who have a car.
14. Mahony & Sons // 1055 Canada Pl #36
If you're a UBC student you're probably familiar with the name. Unlike the bar on campus, the public house at Burrard Landing has one of the better views to be had. Irish influenced comfort food and dark beers go well together on a hot summer day.

15. The Sandbar // 1535 Johnston St #102
Another seafood restaurant on Granville island with a pretty heavy nautical theme, good service, and relaxed atmosphere. Also a good place to catch some live music.
16. Backstage Lounge // 1585 Johnston St
A cool place near The Sandbar to get drinks and food. Turns into a pretty fun hangout spot at night, so your evening doesn't have to end after you eat.
17. Ten Ten Tapas // 1010 Beach Ave
This is quaint eatery with jazz music, tapas style dishes, good cocktails and waterside seating. You can't ask for much more when you want to kick back to some good tunes and enjoy beautiful BC.
18. The Change Restaurant // 550 Denman St
High end Chinese fusion with a view. The ultra modern interior and extensive menu makes this fairly new restaurant worth a try. Right on the edge of Stanley Park and overlooking Coal Harbour.

19. The Teahouse // 7501 Stanley Park Dr
In Stanley Park, this may be the most special of all the places listed. They boast the longest sunset in Vancouver, and away from the pandemonium of the city, you will enjoy an exquisite meal in absolute peace. Make reservations in advance to ensure a seat at one of Vancouver’s finest restaurants with a view, looking out towards the stunning Strait of Georgia and beyond.
