4. Shop at No Frills
This low-cost market guarantees the cheapest price on all the basic products all year long. This will make a significant change on your grocery bills. It's the must-go market in a city as expansive as Vancouver.

If like me you are shocked by the ridiculously price of a tea cup in cafes (seriously it's just hot water and one tea bag), bring your thermos and tea bags wherever you go! Most of time, no one will charge you for hot water, time to get your own tea assortment!
6. Check out the happy hours when you go out with your friends
Take advantage of happy hours in bars or restaurants like Cactus Restaurant! On weekdays from 3 to 6pm and on weekends from 5pm, have Quesadillas for $5!
7. Write a grocery list
It will save you tremendous amount of time and you won't get tempted by discount items that you don't need. Stick to it and save yourself from buying useless items.

Urban gardens in Vancouver are very popular and spread out across the city. It's a great opportunity to have volunteer experience and you'll be able to take home all the the ugly (but still edible) veggies/fruits.
