Vancouver has been dubbed "Hollywood North" for the amount of TV, movies, and commercials that are being filmed out here. Many actors and actresses have seen their success through the roles they have booked in Vancouver.
Some of these celebrities have gained international success and have moved on from Vancouver, while others still call Vancouver home to this day. Although there aren't many, we certainly are proud of our Vancouver celebrities.
1. Ryan Reynolds
Known For: Actor Starring in National Lampoons Van Wilder, The Green Lantern, Deadpool
This Kitsilano High School grad was born and raised in Vancouver. He has landed many major rolls that have earned him his notoriety in Vancouver and internationally. Most recently, he spent some time back in Vancouver filming the majorly successful movie Deadpool. He is also married to dream boat actress, Blake Lively.
2. Alexander Ludwig
Known for: Actor in The Hunger Games, Vikings
Currently studying film, theatre and entrepreneurship at the University of Southern California this is certainly just the beginning of a very bright future for this Vancouver local. In addition to acting and film making, he is also a talented musician with plans to record some of his own material. Currently staring in Vikings, History Channel’s top rated show.

3. Emily Bett Rickards
Known for: Actress in Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow
Not only was she born and raised in Vancouver but she also studied acting at Vancouver Film School. She booked her first major role in 2012 in the movie Flicka: Country Pride but has gained notoriety through her role as Felicity Smoak in the TV series Arrow and its three spin off shows The Flash, Vixen and Legends of Tomorrow. She also has a very active and funny twitter account that you should probably follow here.
4. Seth Rogan
Known For: Comedian/Actor in The Interview, Superbad, Pineapple Express
Its no joke that most of Canada’s celebrities are comedians. We are really funny people and Seth Rogan is obviously the poster boy for that. If you have never seen the TV show Freaks and Geeks you really need to turn on Netflix right now and watch the entire season. Thank me later. More famously know for his roles in Knocked Up, Superbad, Pineapple Express and many other stoner classics.
5. Hayden Christensen
Known For: Actor in Star Wars
You may remember this babe from some of your favourite childhood shows, specifically Are You Afraid of the Dark and Goosebumps. He is most famously known for his roll as Anikan Skywalker in Star Wars: Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith.
6. Kristin Kreuk
Known for: Actress in Smallville
Kristin Kreuk landed her first acting gig in a Vancouver based high school drama called Edgemont. Shortly after she was cast as Clark Kent’s first love interest in the TV show Smallville, which was also filmed in Vancouver.
7. Noel Fisher
Known for: Actor on the TV series Shameless, Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2
Noel Fisher most recently played the role of Michelangelo in the 2016 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. He also plays an openly gay character on the show Shameless where he stars with film industry vet William H. Macy.

Known For: Electronic/Experimental Musician
Born in Vancouver, she attended McGill University in Montreal where she began recording her own music. She was signed to Arbutus Records in 2010 and released her third studio album “Oblivion” in 2012. The album quickly became a success and won Grimes the Juno for Electronic Album of the Year.
9. Drew and Jonathan Scott
Known for: Hosts of reality TV show Property Brothers
Reality TV stars and twin brothers Drew and Jonathan Scott are the host of the popular TV series Property Brothers. The reality show follows the brothers as they help couples around the US and Canada find and renovate new homes.
10. Carly Rae Jepsen
Known For: Singer/Songwriter
Carly Rae Jepson rose to fame with the wild success of her song “Call Me Maybe". She placed third on the 5th season of Canadian Idol and was later signed to local record company 604 Records.
11. Josh Ramsay
Known for: Singer/Songwriter in Marianas Trench
Josh Ramsay was born and raised in Vancouver into a family filled with musicians. He gained his success when his band Marianas Trench signed to 604 Records. He also co-wrote “Call Me Maybe” the song that launched Carly Rae Jepsen’s career.
12. Michael Bublé
Known for: Singer/Songwriter/Actor
Michael Bublé gained international success in 2005 with the release of his album "Its Time". He has won many awards for his music including several Junos and 4 Grammy awards.

13. Jessica Lowndes
Known for: Actress on 90210
Jessica Lowndes made her first acting debut in 2005 but booked the reoccurring role for Adriana on the 90210 spin off in 2008.
14. Cobie Smuldres
Known for: Actress on How I Met Your Mother
You probably remember Cobie Smulders as the quirky Canadian Robyn Sherbatsky on How I Met Your Mother. More recently she has been a part of the Marvel series The Avengers and Captain America
15. Justin Morneau
Known for: Major League Baseball player
Currently a free agent, Justin Morneau has played with three Major League Baseball teams: the Pittsburgh Pirates, Minnesota Twins and the Colorado Rockies.
16. Dan Mangan
Known for: Singer/Songwriter
Not only was Dan Mangan born and raised in Vancouver but he is a 2 time Juno award winner. He is also a contributing writer for The Huffington Post, Montecristo Magazine and The Guardian's Arts Section.
17. Linus Sebastian
Known for: Youtube Personality and founder of Linus Media Group
Linus Sebastian created three different technology oriented Youtube channels: Linus Tech Tips, Techquickie and Channel Super Fun which has a combined subscriber base of almost 4 million. This year, Linus Tech Tips was ranked the 12th most watched Science and Tech channel on YouTube.

18. Jacob Hoggard
Known for: Singer/Songwriter in Hedley
Born in Surrey, Jacob Hoggard was dared by his bandmates to try out for the second season of Canadian Idol in 2004, where he came in 3rd place. His band Hedley continues to release albums and tour North America.
19. Elise Estrada
Known for: Singer/Songwriter
Born in the Philippines, Elise Estrada moved to Vancouver with her family when she was four. In 2007 she signed a record contract with RockSTAR Music Corporation which brought her into the spotlight as a musician.
20. Erin Cebula
Known for: TV personality on Entertainment Tonight!
Erin Cebula landed her first gig as an entertainment reporter for Global TV and moved on to many TV gigs before becoming an E! host. She attended BCIT and still lives in Vancouver full time.
