In Tsawwassen, a neighbourhood in the Lower Mainland, birds keep dropping dead from the sky and there is yet to be a conclusive reason for these creepy incidents. But one thing is for sure: residents are spooked.
This isn't the first time this has happened in B.C. Just six months ago in March, an investigation was launched by wildlife officials after 40 dead birds were seen on the streets in the Okanagan.
A B.C. resident saw the birds falling out of the sky firsthand near the BC Ferries terminal in Tsawwassen. He described the encounter as "really creepy", likening it to a horror-thriller movie like The Birds from Alfred Hitchcock. Kevin Beech told Global News that he saw tons of birds dropping dead from the sky and that it "was like raining birds". Does not a pretty sight to behold at all.
“Just caught it in the corner of my eye, I said ‘what the hell is that,’ they literally, like suicide birds, just straight down,” Beech told Global News. “It was like an Alfred Hitchcock movie, you know The Birds, it was really creepy, dead birds everywhere, little pools of blood under them, there were little guys twitching". Sounds like something straight out of a horror movie – and defs not something we would want to see happen in real life. Check out the trailer for The Birds for reference.
Migratory bird biologist Laurie Wilson, who works for Environment Canada, told Global News that this incident was not usual. They have since found 40 dead birds in Tsawwassen to investigate.
As of now, the cause of this creepy incident is unclear. This seems like a seriously spooky start to Halloween season in B.C. According to Global News, Environment Canada is now investigating the incidents, so stayed tuned for the reason behind these deaths.
