Canadians Are Praising These Police Officers For How They Dealt With A Heckler (VIDEO)
Canadians praising local police officers for how they responded to a heckler in BC.
In today's political climate, it's not uncommon to see tensions rise between law enforcement and locals. However, a pair of Vancouver police officers were recently heckled by a local man and the way that they handled the situation is garnering support and praise from Canadians in the area. A video of the interaction between the officers and the local man was posted on Youtube and then shared on Reddit on Tuesday. Since then, it's received a lot of views and attention.
Vancouver police officers were outside a Vancouver Whitecaps soccer match, monitoring the crowds and standing guard. They were seen holding multiple firearms. This prompted a local man to approach the officers, with a camera to film the entire situation, and badger them with questions about why they were holding guns outside the local event.
The police politely responded to his inquiries and gave him well-explained answers but the local man continued to heckle them and filmed the entire encounter.
The video was recorded by the local man and uploaded to Youtube. It then made its way onto Reddit Vancouver yesterday on February 19, and many people are now praising the officers on the platform for how they aptly dealt with the situation.

In the video, you can see that the two Vancouver police officers are watching the crowds and standing guard after the soccer game. The local man approaches the two and asks them "what's with the heavy artillery weaponry".
The police take the time to politely answer his question. One police officer shares that in Toronto they had recently had a shooting in a crowded area and they are there to help make sure the crowd is safe. "We're not here for you, we're here because of you," says one of the officers.
The man continues to probe them and ask them more questions. He tells them that nobody carries around machine guns at a family event. In response, one of the officers explains that he is holding a rifle because it's more accurate than a handgun and therefore allows them to be more precise and safer if they need to shoot a firearm in case of an emergency.
After a little while of conversation, the police officers ask him to leave because they say that the man is preventing them from doing their job and distracting them from watching the crowd to keep conditions safe. One officer even offers to give the man his business card and tells him he will answer all his questions by email at a later time.
Since the video has surfaced on Reddit Vancouver, many locals have been praising the officers for their reactions and response to the situation. Check out what they had to say below.
