The League is a new exclusive dating app that is invitation and members only. It is launching in Vancouver for the first time ever tomorrow, on October 9th. The League promises to be "dating for the overly ambitious", according to its Instagram bio. As you can see below, they have even recruited Bachelor stars for their marketing before.

To get into this elite dating app, you have to apply for membership. On their website, the app asks potential users "Are you told your standards are too high? Keep them that way. We’re not saying Tinder doesn’t have its uses (hello Vegas!) but why not spend your time a little more… intelligently?" The dating app also promises "no voyeurs, no fakes, no randoms, no games, no noise and no shame" on their website

Canadians have already expressed their distaste of the dating app on the Internet, taking to RedditThe top Reddit comment on the thread about The League is by user Dingolfing and says, "How f**king pretentious". It received 27 points and below it, another Reddit user, Slonato, commented in response, "So it will be fantastically popular in Vancouver".

So far there have been no positive reactions on the Reddit thread, which was posted just nine hours ago. One user commented, "if you want to make this app, that’s fine. But don’t deny you are making a very exclusive club of people that can afford 'trips' not 'dates'".

One Reddit user was even happy that this new app may screen certain people out of Tinder. "Get all these losers off tinder so theres more goth babes for me," says user do_pigs_lay_eggs. The comment got 11 points.

It looks like Redditors may be right about its success in Vancouver. The League launches tomorrow in the city but there is already a wait-list of 3,000 people, according to The Province. The app is planning to launch with 500 curated members, which they call their “Founding Class”. Meanwhile, an estimated 50 million people use Tinder around the world.
