There's about to be an early spring miracle for Vancouverites this January! Peak out from under your umbrellas and come outside to see this spectacular tulip event from the makers of the much-loved Chilliwack Tulip Festival.
In Metrotown, there will be a massive heart-shaped display of over 10,000 red and white tulips for one day only! Adorably named 'I Heart Tulips,' this is the first-ever event of its kind and I hope it becomes an annual tradition. You will be able to see the floral installation from all three levels of the Metrotown mall.
All proceeds from the festival will be supporting Variety Children's Charities, who directly help B.C. children with special needs. Around 1 p.m. on the day of the festival, children supported by the Variety charity will pick their tulips. It's probably going to be tear-jerkingly cute! After the kids have had their turn, the public is welcomed to pick their own tulips by donation!
This colourful installation and fun one-day tulip festival are going to really brighten up January for Vancouverites who are under a near-constant rain cloud these days! while you're heading out to Metrotown to pick up an Uncle Tetsu’s Cheesecake or try Sweet Jesus Ice Cream, make sure you snap a few photos of this epic floral display and take advantage of the first floral festival of 2019!
There's also going to be a tulip selfie stand and fun photo frames you can use in your shots. If you don't feel like picking tulips, you can also buy pre-wrapped flowers on site. Don't forget to enter a draw to win tickets to the 2019 Chilliwack Tulip Festival, which take place in April this year.
You can see 'I Heart Tulips' at The Grand Court at Metropolis at Metrotown on Saturday, January 26 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. You can take your pick of tulips to take home with you for a donation of $5/five tulips until all the tulips have been picked!
