Spring in Vancouver means it's the kick off of festival season! Eating, shopping and having fun en plein air without your umbrella? It's what makes life worth living. On the weekend of Saturday, June 15 and Sunday, June 16 you can catch two festivals in Vancouver that literally take over the city. The West End and the Main Street Car Free Day Festivals shut down busy throughways to vehicle traffic and pedestrians reclaim the street with music, dance, food, culture and performance.

You should definitely keep your weekend free to check out Car Free Day, but if you can only manage to check out one then I recommend that you go to the Main Street Car Free day just because it's going to be way bigger in a street party that spans more than 20 blocks. These street parties reclaim public spaces for people rather than cars and they're a fun reminder of what life can be like when we put pedestrians first!

It's street parties and festivals like this that make Vancouver one of the most fun places to be in the Spring and Summer months. You really get a sense of community and camaraderie plus you're guaranteed to find amazing eats and unique shopping. Local businesses, performers and artists really take this concept to the next level and make every Car Free Festival totally memorable.
